Sat, Apr 25, 2026 10:00am - Noon, PPUABA spring clean-up
Let's lift our spirits by working on a community project together! We'll cut down unwanted growth in the tree beds, clean up litter, and sweep our sidewalks. Please clean in front of your own building and perhaps another building or two on your block. You can borrow tools or get a trash bag from the resource table in front of 293 Park Place. On this date, neighbors and block associations across Prospect Heights will be conducting clean-ups, so please join in and let's spiff up the neighborhood together!
Sun, May 03, 2026 10:00am - 2:00pm, Free paper shredding event
AARP New York will host its annual free paper shredding event with an on-site mobile shred truck at Prospect Park, Park Circle Entrance (Prospect Park Southwest @ Parkside Avenue). Paper only. Please remove paper clips and metal binder clips in advance. There is a three bag or three box limit per participant. Event ends at scheduled time or when the truck is full, whichever comes first. Register in advance here.
Sat, May 09, 2026 Noon - 5:00pm**, PPUABA Block Party
Please SAVE THE DATE for our 2026 Block Party, which will be held on Underhill Avenue between Prospect Place and Park Place. More details will follow closer to the date. **To be followed by a pot-luck dinner from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Sat, May 16, 2026, 10:00am - Noon, PPUABA Plant Share, in front of 302 Park Place
Bring your excess seedlings, cuttings and plants from your garden to share with a neighbor, and/or browse and take plants contributed by others (it's not necessary to bring a plant to take one). Consult with Growing Our Community coordinator Den Gordon about which plants might do best in your specific growing conditions, and take plants that meet your needs. These Plant Share events are a great way to spread the joy of gardening and enable neighbors to connect!
Sat, Jun 06, 2026, 10:00am - 5:00pm, PPUABA Stoop Sales
Start gathering up those no-longer-loved items in your closets, at the back of the kitchen cabinets, in your cellar (or wherever) and get ready to set up a table at our multi-block stoop sale.
Stoop sales are a way for members to de-clutter, transform those no-longer-loved items into someone else's wonderful find - and (hopefully) get to enjoy sitting at a sidewalk table with nice weather and friendly neighborly conversations.
The block association will publicize the event with emails, social media postings and flyers. In past years we've had great turnouts, so plan to set up a stoop sale table. Or, shop your neighbors' tables to see what treasures you can find!
Stoop sale locations will be on all four blocks in PPUABA's footprint - Park Place from Vanderbilt Avenue to Washington Avenue, and Underhill Avenue from Prospect Place to Sterling Place.
